What We Do

Carry a Bead

Anyone can participate. Everyone can give. Together we can make the fight a little easier.

The Carry A Bead program is part of Beads of Courage and is a unique opportunity for supporters to directly give their strength, encouragement, and support to a child fighting cancer or another serious illness in hospital. Share and connect your story and celebrate life. By choosing to participate, you are honoring a child’s courage in their fight and giving them hope that they are not alone. Choose to share your life’s challenges—whether it is a New Year’s resolution, a life change, or a 5K run.

Your Bead will become part of a child’s journey to fight cancer or another serious illness. Watch the video below to learn more about the power of the Beads of Courage Program.

How does it work?

Participants are given a pair of Beads to carry with them on their challenge. At the end of the challenge, participants return one Bead and a note of encouragement. They are then given to a child in our Beads of Courage Program® when they are in need of an extra boost of courage. During a child’s nine- to 12-month hospital stay, they are usually only given one or two of these special Beads.

If you are interested in participating please contact us at info@sokids.org.
