Launching in April 2009, this program provided a complete support facility for families of children with cancer offering free child care, a safe relaxation space, emergency accommodation and weekly educational activities for siblings and patients. (2009 – 2012)
Provided sibling child care for families with children in hospital by a qualified child care specialist. (2008 – 2009)
Improved the quality of patient care by adding a top-level pediatric oncologist to a hospital’s pediatric oncology/hematology team. (2008 – 2009)
Provided both a long-term follow-up clinic to support childhood cancer survivors as well as daily outpatient clinic support center for current pediatric cancer patients at the hospital. (2010 – 2013)
This relief program provided physical and emotional support to pediatric patients and their families in the Tohoku region, as well as children in the affected communities who need extra psychological encouragement and support. (2011)
In Japan, there is a lack of qualified nurse specialists and nurses with long-term experience to step into leadership positions of pediatric wards. The Tyler Foundation (as it was known then) created a program to offer annual annual scholarships to top nurses who were studying in a Certified Nurse Specialist course with the goal of providing better medical care for pediatric oncology patients. Supported a specific pediatric leukemia research project which could not otherwise be funded. (2009 – 2010)
Maximizes quality of life for pediatric oncology patients and their families throughout the entire cancer treatment process by placing clinical psychologists in pediatric cancer wards to provide:
