The Tyler Foundation was selected as the beneficiary of the 13th Japan Wine Challenge Gala Dinner & Charity Auction held on Friday, 16th July 2010 at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo.

Over three days leading up to this event, wines from all over the world were judged. The Japan Wine Challenge‘s continued association with the Institute of Masters of Wine, the Wine & Spirits Educational Trust, and the San Francisco International Wine Competition, together with the Japan Wine Challenge’s team of expert judges ensure that all wines were given the optimum evaluation by a truly international and professional judging panel.

Chairman of the Japan Wine Challenge, Steven Spurrier (Consultant Editor, Decanter Magazine) said, “The Japan Wine Challenge is the biggest and most significant international wine competition in Asia.”

The black-tie Gala Dinner and Charity Auction took place from 6pm, following on from the JWC Awards Ceremony, which was held separately, before the dinner in the presence of H.I.H. Princess Takamado. Her Highness was also present at the Gala Dinner and Charity Auction.

Guests had the chance to meet the international and Japanese judges, gaining further insight into the fascinating world of wines and to taste throughout the evening some of the Award-winning wines. There were three main fundraising opportunities during the event – a raffle, a silent auction and the main auction-all of which featured outstanding items.
